In an 8-K filing to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Sensata says that the attack occurred on Sunday, April 6, and involved data theft, too. “The incident has temporarily impacted Sensata’s operations, including shipping, receiving, manufacturing production, and various other support functions,” reads the notification. Sensata Technologies is an industrial technology company that develops, manufactures, and sells a wide range of sensors and sensor-rich solutions, as well as electrical protection components and systems. The company's products are for automotive, aerospace, and industrial applications. In 2023, Sensata reported an annual revenue of $4 billion. Sensata says that it has taken immediate action to speed up the restoration process for crucial functions impacted by the cyberattack. However, the company cannot provide a timeline for the completion of this effort. A preliminary investigation with assistance from external cybersecurity experts confirmed that the hackers have exfiltrated data from the company network.
